We started a community garden last year for our church but this year they decided to move it closer to the church building. With this move, it made it a little harder because we had to start completely over. And the dirt was filled with rocks so we had ALOT of sorting rocks out. We planned to have the proceeds again go directly to the food pantry our church supports and also a program called Hopes Table. This is where homeless people can come and have a hot meal at our church and volunteers sit down with them and talk/listen.
Even though it was hard getting the garden started, it was very rewarding when you see people coming out of the pantry with food you grew or eating food at a table. All those weekend spending all day instead of taking the weekend to go on vacation, hiking, camping was well worth it.
If you ever want to keep up with us, we have a facebook page.
