Well, we have ended yet another year of school.
They had a great year with making new friends, school programs, outdoor school, shooting rockets, the jog-a-thon, zumba, carnival, field day, spend the nights, track meets, etc. They also had a few struggles which they plan on working on this summer for the next year. All in all I think they had one of the best years at school. Moving to Oregon seems to still be one of the best decisions we have made as parents for our children.
This year was bitter sweet for Hannah because it was her last year at Edwards and next year the 6th graders are separated into different schools depending on where they live. So if they don't live near each other or see each other in outside of school activities they won't see each other until high school. Also, two teachers retired. One was Hannah's favorite teacher of all time. She did get her address and plans to send her letters and keep in touch with her. She is one of the sweetest ladies I have ever met and I am thankful Hannah was blessed to have her be a role model for her and will continue to be hopefully throughout the years.
Marchal excelled in all his subjects, esp in Math(which makes Marc and I both laugh, since we are horrible in it) but he still needs to work on keeping" his pockets in his seat". That is how one of the teachers tells the kids to stay sitting down. He is so full of energy it is hard for him to just sit all day. He was sad that he didn't have alot of his best buddies in his class next year but I feel confident that God is moving in to a class where he will do great. I told him that is an even better way to make new friends and add to his friendships. But my little sensitive child still is holding on to only having a few good friends. Bless his heart.
The last day of school was a fun one. They had an early assembly where they drew names for the Eagle eye awards(these are awards the teachers and school staff give out to students all year when they see them acting responsibly, respectfully and safe(the school moto). Marchal had his fingers crossed the entire time hoping they would call his name. They didn't. And we had talked about him controlling his emotions. So every time he looked at me when they didn't call his name I could tell he wanted to cry bc he had tears in his eyes but he did great and held it back. After that Hannah's class launched their rockets they built and then everyone kinda ran around taking pictures, writing on their t-shirts(unfortunately Hannah allowed her friends to write on a VERY nice shirt she had((sad face)), exchanged phone numbers, tears and alot of hugs.
That was an exhausting day and it was all over by noon. lol.
