We decide that since we had explored the coast we should explore the forest too. And what a great choice that was! It was a great day with a clear sky and cool weather. We stopped by Wally World to get hiking boots and some snacks for all of us.
Once we arrived we put on our back packs and headed down the trail. We saw Huge trees, moss everywhere, the river was beside the trail the whole time, Salmon, bridges built by the boy scouts and leaves falling. It was a 4 mile hike to the end point then we had to walk back. At one point we saw some other hikers and the kids enjoyed acting like we were on the run from them. So we would run a little and when we saw them again run some more. It took a toll on us parents but it was fun. Once we hit rock beach we stopped and ate lunch on a big bolder and tree that had fallen. Pretty awesome. Marchal went exploring and fell in the water. hehe. The water was not as cold as the ocean was or maybe it was because we were hot from the walk. Thankfully he had water proof boots.

One the way back we were trying to beat the sun going down. Didn't want get stuck in the woods after dark. But thankfully if that happen we did have 3 of Marchals flashlights(he collects them I think). lol. We ran into a nice couple that told us the cafe where Twilight was filmed was right up the road. Funny thing was Marc heard the man wrong so we went to Culver cafe(right place was Carver's Cafe) but it had the most delicious food we had ever had. We will for sure be back! There are over 100 hiking trails in Mt. Hood. I think next weekend we are exploring one with waterfalls. Woo Hoo. Can't wait.
